Baltic Sea Cruising

The pandemic would seem to be in its final stages as I have at last been able to return to my old job as a stowaway on cruise ships. This is a more important role than you might think as I do an alternative ship’s navigation from my cabin using the bow camera on the TV and my own iphone electronic nautical charts, AIS ship tracking and satellite weather data. Commands like “all ahead flank” and “dive dive dive” need to be issued from time to time. Unlike in real-life, I can usually leave the crew completely unsupervised when I go to eat or want a sleep!

The current voyages are weekly return trips starting in Kiel and sailing out into the Kattegat and Baltic Sea. Depending on the weather the ports of call are Copenhagen, Visby, Stockholm and sometimes Tallinn.
